Epoxies for Phenolic

Thermosetting phenolic polymers are essential in numerous industrial manufacturing applications. They exhibit the following properties:

  • Surface hardness
  • Machinability
  • Heat resistance
  • Thermal insulation
  • Dimensional stability
  • Low creep/shrinkage
  • Light weight
  • Superb mechanical strength
  • High Dielectric strength

Additionally, they are also noted for resisting abrasion, impact, corrosion, pressure, water, and fatigue. These phenolic materials are available for us in rods, sheets, tubes, slabs, and blocks. End-users for this plastic include the following industries:

  • Automotive
  • Mass transit
  • Rail
  • Electrical
  • Electronic
  • Aerospace
  • Mining
  • Armored vehicles
  • Industrial parts
  • Power
  • Oil/gas

Engineers frequently specify thermoset phenolic plastics to produce:

  • Printed circuit boards
  • Switches
  • Switchboards
  • Connectors
  • Brake components
  • Knobs
  • Electric motors
  • Coil bobbins
  • Transformers
  • Rockets

Products for Bonding Thermosetting Phenolic Polymers

Leading products for bonding phenolic materials consist of EP21TDCHT, Supreme 12AOHT-LO, and EP30HT. EP21TDCHT is a room temperature curing epoxy with a convenient to use 1:1 mix ratio for ease of application. It offers excellent strength and toughness. Supreme 12AOHT-LO is a one component epoxy which requires curing at a minimum of 250°F. Since it is a one component epoxy, the need for measuring and mixing is eliminated. It offers excellent shear strength, resistance to high temperatures and thermal cycling, as well as thermal conductivity. EP30HT is a room temperature curing epoxy with good optical clarity and high tensile strength.
